Biblical Canon
The 66 Books of the Holy Bible, or of
Canon, are the focus of many a discussion in 2017.
It is my firm contention that either G-d
(Christ) got it right, 66 Books or...
Or the gawd who screwed up, over a
millennia ago, is a bumbling FOOL...
Is it possibly Cognitive Dissonance* for
one to refuse to even consider the alleged suggestions, by a few, that some
books should be added, others ought to be omitted, and still other books should
be re-worded, in what we call Canon?
In recent days I've read numerous comments
by many folks alleging myriad alterations be made to Canon. Claims like:
Claim made:
"... canon[sic] has the essential
concept but Maccabbees was removed because... the church didn't want to give up
their culture."
"You do realize men created the
contents of the bible..."
Replies / rebuttals:
"No, men did not create the contents
of the Bible. G-d (Christ) inspired men
to write, what He saw fit to be written. And of the myriad books floating around
claiming to be Scripture, only what G-d wanted to have included, was
included. To claim otherwise, renders
one's god, a useless appendage, yes."

Question asked:
“How do you feel about the pope declaring
lucifer God?”
RE: "How do you feel about the pope
declaring lucifer God?"
A) - I do not really care what the Pope
says,
B) - frankly I resent the implication that
everything about traditional Christian values is somehow a by-product of the
"evil roman empire" and
C) - (Perhaps this one should have been
"A") Did the pope really declare lucifer, G-d?
~~~
Claim made:
Also, this is not a matter of salvation...
this is an issue of whether this scroll was of wisdom from the holy
spirit..."
"God didn’t[sic] say hey here is the
66 books I am going to inspire and that’s[sic] it... God is living... I am
amazed over the wisdom that is found in the mainstream collection of books of
jewish[sic] and yahweh[sic] inspiration, read TITUS, and we find God wanted us
to live like the creatins[sic]..."
Replies / rebuttals:
"IF one says Canon is Flexible... as
some do, then the god one serves, in my humble opinion, is too weak, too
emaciated, too useless for her shed blood to mean anything... IF..."
"Correct... ALL cults have their own
versions of a bastardized set of "scriptures"...
The Mormons have theirs
The JW's have theirs
And other Groups, Groups that say
The gospel of Mary should be canonized
The gospel of Judas should be canonized
The book of Enoch should be canonized
The book of Moses should be canonized
The book of _____ should ALSO be canonized
The above are all cults who tear away at
the authority of G-d's (Christ's) Holy Word, the 66 Books of Canon!"
"The bottom line remains:
If anyone can add anything to Canon, or
take anything away from Canon... in other words if Canon is NOT settled...
then...
Then anyone, ANY ONE can add to, or take
out, what ever they want, whenever they want.
And when we set ourselves up as smarter
than god, who by implication was too inept to get his word right 2,000 years
ago, we set ourselves up as gods."
also
"Look, folks, the bottom line
remains:
If anyone can add anything to Canon, or
take anything away from Canon... in other words if Canon is NOT settled...
then...
Then anyone, ANY ONE can add to, or take
out, what ever they want, whenever they want.
And when we set ourselves up as smarter
than god, who by implication was too inept to get his word right 2,000 years
ago, we set ourselves up as gods."
and
"I could not possibly care less what
the pope says... who is the pope? He did
not die for you, or I!"
~~~
Claim made:
"The Catholic Church admits they
possess the authority to change the sabbath to a Sunday[sic] on a man made[sic]
calendar! Men or God?"
Replies / rebuttals:
First, did the Roman Catholic Church (RCC)
admit, OR *make the CLAIM* that, they possess the authority to change, or make
changes?"
Second, once more as I suggested earlier,
I could not possibly care less what the pope, or RCC, says... who is the
pope? He did not die for you, or
I!"
~~~
Claim made:
"This has been an issue of dumbing
the population so it might make the leaders more capable of controlling
them..."
Replies / rebuttals:
"Moving back to extra-biblical Books,
like Maccabees, and other Apocryphal writings, first, permit me to suggest
(again) philosophically that, either G-d's (Christ's) written Word is
Fixed or
It's open, fluid and subject to constant
change."
and
"Next concerning the extra-biblical
Books, like Maccabees, and other Apocryphal writings, permit me to ask:
Can G-d's (Christ's) Word (written
Scripture) ever contradict itself? Ever?
In the books of Maccabees, we read about
something that contradicts not only the Canonical Scriptures, but in fact,
contradicts each of the two books themselves.
For example, in both Books of Maccabees, Antiochus Epiphanes is said to
have died three different deaths...
Three Different Deaths
This is a flagrant departure the clear
tone of the 66 Books of Canon, and a blatant contradiction of Hebrews
9:27..."
~~~
Claim made:
"I find the book of Maccabbees very
canon... we have been deceived... This is an outrage I guess, although it might
have been removed for another reason more along the lines of they wanted to
ease the people into the idea of jewish[sic] culture..."
Replies / rebuttals:
from another Tweeter ~~ "I was told by
someone I trusted that the Holy Bible we have today is what God wanted us to
have. That’s why what we have has been preserved & stood the test of time.
I was taught not to trust when people said there were parts missing so IDK.
Hmm?" ~~
and
"Wise, very wise counsel, (from above
tweeter)"
and
"Harsh as it sounds, the alternative
to accepting that the Canon of G-d's (Christ's) Holy Word, the Bible, being
fixed, AND is precisely what G-d wants N' wanted, is...
Anyone can change anything, at any time...
To argue that we've been deceived,
beginning around 1,600 years ago, by counsels that in some cases have wanted to
add other books as well as delete some, is to suggest that G-d is incompetent,
incapable of safeguarding His own Word..."
additionally
"Besides the above, (and I know this
is an anecdotal point, but) does anyone really think G-d's Word can contradict,
itself?
Romans 4:3 & Genesis 15:6, pretty
plainly, say - "Abe's faith / belief in and trust for G-d was counted as
righteousness. This is in keeping with
Ephesians 2:8 - 10, and Habakkuk 2:4 - the just shall live by faith.
Contrast that with I Maccabees 2:52 which essentially states
that:
Abe was found righteous because of his
"works"."
and finally
"Last thing I am going to blather on
about, regarding extra-biblical books, and Canon...
Someone believe that I Maccabees is Canon
worthy. And...
The Mormons believe that the Books of
Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine & Covenants, are Canon
worthy.
The JW's believe that the NWT, Watchtower
Publication, bastardized version of the Bible, is Canon worthy.
And, the Muslims (as well as some very
liberal "christians" believe that the Qur'an is, Canon worthy...
and...
Either G-d (Christ) got it right, 66 Books
or...
Or gawd is a bumbling FOOL..."
66 Books folks… that is Canon, 66 Books!
*Cognitive Dissonance
“Cognitive Dissonance - the whole-being
recoil at hearing something so incompatible with our beliefs, that it is
offensive to our very being.
For example - when someone tells us that
the earth is flat... Whaaaat?!” – Mr. Roland Hildebrant
“No Jesus, NO peace” and yet, “Know Jesus,
KNOW peace”
How does one get to “know” Jesus? Simple, invite Him into your heart, as Jesus says:
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens
the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” [Revelation 3:20 NIV]
How can be assured that this Jesus stuff means anything? Well because the Bible tells us so, as the
Apostle Paul wrote:
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is
Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it
is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” [Romans 10:9-10 NIV]
And for those of you who say to me, I
can’t be bothered reading the Bible, “it’s confusing” or “it’s a waste of my time”,
may I draw your attention to what the Bible says about wisdom: “The fear of the
LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is
understanding.” [Proverbs 9:10 NIV]
If nothing else, PLEASE read two chapters
from the Bible – (don’t own one, sorry NO excuse, if you’re reading this, you
can access this: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%203:16&version=NIV) John 3 and John
14!
John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the
world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.”
And John 14:6 says: “Jesus answered, “I am
the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
me.”
