Incarnation to Resurrection
Incarnation to Resurrection roughly three and one-half
years, in 12 weeks, Sunday through Friday (six days) per week
Day Sixty-two of Eighty-four:
As we wrap up this 9th week (yes, we are
now three quarters of the way through the twelve-week trek) we’ll once more
reflect on this past week’s posts. But,
before we even do that, let’s take a very quick journey back across the past
eight weeks, and review some of those weekly highlights!
Way back in Week One (January 7th - 13th)
we read about some of the four (4) different Old Testament (TaNaKh [1])
passages beginning with Isaiah 9:5 & 6 followed by Psalm 89:4 & 5 and II Samuel 7:12 – 16, and then also Deuteronomy 18:15
– 22 proclaiming the
coming of Messiah. Some of these texts
pre-date Jesus’s Incarnation by well over 1,000 years. Continuing, on Day Two we reviewed the
Messianic Prophecies of the Virgin Birth, Isaiah 7:14 fulfilled Matthew 1:23. And finally on
Day Six we were granted the opportunity, unique in all of history to meet, see,
and even experience, the Living G-d, by way of the baby Jesus. For in times past – “No one has ever
seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known.” – John 1:18, ESV
Obviously, no review of Week One would be complete without addressing the
account of “The Slaughter of the Innocents”[2].
Continuing into
Week Two we read in Matthew and Luke, of John the Baptist preaching of the soon
coming Messiah, and the promise of Messiah Baptizing His followers (adherents /
believer in Messiah) with the Holy Ghost.
We also read of the “Baptism of Jesus” - Mark 1:9 - 11 and Luke 3:21 “Jesus’s Baptism in
the Holy Ghost”- Mark 1:9 - 11, Luke
3:21 and John 1:32. On Day Four of Week
Two we read about the calling of Levi the Tax Collector - Mark 2:13 - 17, Jesus being Lord
of the Sabbath - Matthew 12:1 - 8,
Mark 2:23 - 28 and Luke 6:1 - 5, Fasting
- Mark 2:18-22 and of course about numerous healings by Jesus. And we closed off Week Two with a reading
about the value of Building Our Houses on the Rock of Jesus - Luke 6:46-49, and
another one of my personal favourites – Recognizing
[judging] A Tree and Its Fruit - Luke 6:43-45.
During Week Three
we explored the Beatitudes
found in Matthew 5:1 - 12, from the Sermon on the Mount. We also read how, by His (Jesus’) actions (His
obedience) we may know today (I John 5:13 / John 20:31) that we are set free. Not might be, hopefully one day, ‘set free’,
IF we be ‘good enough’, but how we are, today, present tense, set free… IF only
we’d place our faith in Christ!
That too right there ^ ^ ^ that, my friends, is… GOOD NEWS.
That too right there ^ ^ ^ that, my friends, is… GOOD NEWS.
And now back to
this past week, on Sunday & Monday we looked what Jesus had to say about -
“Not Being Anxious” - Luke 12:22 - 34 and Jesus’ plain teaching about
children, how we are to view, value and treat children - “…Suffer little
children, and forbid them not, to come unto me… for of such is the kingdom of
heaven.” - Matthew 19:14,
KJV Continuing on Tuesday we read of the
account of the Parable of the “Great Feast”,
Luke 14:12 - 24, with accompanying commentary - “If… don’ make even the
burliest, and toughest among you weep (at least a little), you may have no
heart!”
Continuing this past week on Wednesday our reading took us through an account of Jesus Cleansing the Ten Lepers… nine of the 10 showed no gratitude. - Luke 17:11 - 19 Only one in ten, gave thanks. Sobering stuff. As recently as just yesterday, Thursday March 8th, 2018 we explored a heightened focus by Jesus on foretelling of His soon coming death, for a third time, as we read through - Matthew 20:17 - 19, Mark 10:32 - 34 & Luke 17:31 - 34 And also within yesterday’s reading was a glimpse a profound statement by Jesus - “Two women shall be grinding meal together; one shall be led away captive and the other shall be left.” - Luke 17:35, Aramaic Bible in Plain English

All of which
brings us to, today’s final reading for this week, from which here is a
highlight - “…the Son of Man
came to seek and to save the lost.” - Luke 19:10
And yes, that too
right there ^ ^ ^ that, my friends,
is… GOOD NEWS!
We’ll leave reading the rest of the text for you individually.

Shalom!
“No Jesus, NO peace” and yet, “Know Jesus, KNOW peace”
How does one get to “know” Jesus? Simple, invite Him into your heart, as Jesus
says: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and
opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” [Revelation 3:20 NIV]
How can be assured that this Jesus stuff means anything? Well because the Bible tells us so, as the
Apostle Paul wrote:
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is
Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it
is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” [Romans 10:9-10 NIV]
And for those of you who say to me, I
can’t be bothered reading the Bible, “it’s confusing” or “it’s a waste of my
time”, may I draw your attention to what the Bible says about wisdom: “The fear
of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is
understanding.” [Proverbs 9:10 NIV]
If nothing else, PLEASE read two chapters
from the Bible – (don’t own one, sorry NO excuse, if you’re reading this, you
can access this: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%203:16&version=NIV) John 3 and John
14!
John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the
world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.”
And John 14:6 says: “Jesus answered, “I am
the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
me.”
