Incarnation to Resurrection
Incarnation to Resurrection roughly three and one-half
years, in 12 weeks, Sunday through Friday (six days) per week
Day Fifty of Eighty-four:
Even though today we’ll cover many events
in Jesus’ Earthly Ministry, through the readings in Matthew, Luke and John,
let’s consider just one highlight. How
many of us can relate, in our at-work lives, to Sally Lazy and Larry
Sloth? Neither of them ever spends even
30 seconds after the “work-day” is done, to tidy up. That “quitting time bell” sounds, and they
are off. Gone like a Greyhound after a
hair. Very rarely are either “on-time”
to begin work, and their breaks… good gawd they take liberties. Seems that both Sally and Larry, are always
grumbling, “oh woe is me, my spouse this, my parents that, or my kids”.
Oi vey, between
sick / sickly kids, and spouses who appear to have more gambling, drinking and
/ or carousing problems than Carter had peanuts, there’s hardly a positive
word, or constructive, and efficient action between them once a week, at work. And the boss man, wow. Whenever we bring up Larry, or Sally’s
tardiness, and the fact that they get paid roughly the same as us, etc., the
boss always has some excuses. “You don’t
know all the facts” he says. “It’s
complicated” he says. And the best one, “That’s really none of your business!”,
it’s all just so infuriating, right?
Remember what
Jesus said in Matthew 18:10 - 14, that - “If a man
has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the
ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he
rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray.” - verses
12 & 13, ESV. The Message renders verse
13(ish) as “…doesn’t he make far more over it than over the ninety-nine who
stay put?” Our Lord and Saviour Jesus
the Christ /Yeshua Ha Mashiach (Rabbi Yeshua bar Yosef) spells out something
that Peter reaffirms in the Third Chapter of Second Peter, verse 9, that - “…it is not the will
of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.” - Matthew 18:14,
ESV
So yes, as
frustrating as the Larry’s and Sally’s in our lives can be, #JesusBled4Them,
and #JesusDied4Them also. A couple of
weeks ago, “Day Thirty-four”, the question was asked - “Does anyone need a
doctor?”. And a few
days earlier, on “Day Thirty” we looked at Jesus statement, found in Matthew
9:12, - “Those
who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.” - ESV. In fact, Jesus plainly said, according to Luke 5:32, as was
highlighted back on “Day Twelve” that He did - “… not come that [He] may call the
righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
Once again, that…
that too right there ^ ^ ^ that, my
friends, is… GOOD NEWS!
We’ll leave reading the rest of the text for you individually.

“No Jesus, NO peace” and yet, “Know Jesus, KNOW peace”
How does one get to “know” Jesus? Simple, invite Him into your heart, as Jesus
says: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and
opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” [Revelation 3:20 NIV]
How can be assured that this Jesus stuff means anything? Well because the Bible tells us so, as the
Apostle Paul wrote:
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is
Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it
is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” [Romans 10:9-10 NIV]
And for those of you who say to me, I
can’t be bothered reading the Bible, “it’s confusing” or “it’s a waste of my
time”, may I draw your attention to what the Bible says about wisdom: “The fear
of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is
understanding.” [Proverbs 9:10 NIV]
If nothing else, PLEASE read two chapters
from the Bible – (don’t own one, sorry NO excuse, if you’re reading this, you
can access this: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%203:16&version=NIV) John 3 and John
14!
John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the
world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.”
And John 14:6 says: “Jesus answered, “I am
the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
me.”
