Incarnation to Resurrection, Day Thirty-two

Incarnation to Resurrection

#‎RAD #‎ATEND G-d (Christ) #‎IIC714

Incarnation to Resurrection roughly three and one-half years, in 12 weeks, Sunday through Friday (six days) per week

Day Thirty-two of Eighty-four:

Today we’ll read of Jesus Healing a Man with a Demon, Mark 5:1 – 20 & Luke 8:26 – 35 and in turn sending the demon(s) (legion, for there were many) into some pigs.  After the demons had been cast out of the man, and into the herd of pigs, the pigs went crazy frantically running and scattering.  In fact, the pigs rushed over a steep cliff and drowned in the sea.  “Those tending the pigs, scared to death, bolted and told their story in town and country. Everyone wanted to see what had happened. They came up to Jesus and saw the madman sitting there wearing decent clothes and making sense, no longer a walking madhouse of a man.” - Mark 5:14 – 15 & Luke 8:34 – 36

Also in today’s reading, we’ll discover Jesus’ teachings on having no fear, and placing G-d before self - Matthew 10:26 – 33, where Jesus gently reminds us – ‘the day is coming when everything will be out in the open, and everyone will know how things really are.’  Let’s next consider Jesus Words in Matthew 10:34 – 39 where He says “…not to bring peace, but a sword.”  What did Jesus mean in saying that He came “…not to bring peace, but a sword.”?  Was Jesus talking about an insurrection, rebellion or some sort of armed bloody conflict?  No, and well yes.  Fact is, in the time of His Earthly Ministry the conflict is spiritual.

True, Jesus’ own Words in Matthew 10:35 – “Don’t think I’ve come to make life all cozy, I’ve come to set a man against his father, daughter against her mother, & daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”  Jesus continues, verse 36 & 37, with – “…a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.  And he who loves his father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than Me is also not worthy of Me.”  Strong words for sure.  But what does Jesus mean when He says – “a man’s enemies will be the members of his household” or “he who loves his father or mother more than Me is not worthy”?  I think we get our answer(s) in the next two verses, 38 and 39.

Here we read Jesus’ explanation that – “taking up our cross, daily” and “losing our life daily, for His sake, will find it”.  Matthew 10:38 – 39  Or, simply put “Jesus must be the First, Foremost, and Central part of our lives.  If not, He says we’re “not worthy” of Him.  There is Good News to this… none of us, not me, not the most Pious sounding religious zealot you know, not the most pacificistic person you may know of, no one… No one is worthy. Which is why we read about Jesus, as we did about back on Monday, 22 January 2018 in “Incarnation to Resurrection, Day Sixteen” that – “…by His actions (His obedience) ‘we may know today’ (I John 5:13 / John 20:31) that we are set free.  Not might be, [not] hopefully [will be] one day, ‘set free’, IF we be ‘good enough’, but.. we are, today, present tense, set free… IF we place our faith in Christ – “For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous.” – Romans 5:19, ESV”

And that, my friends, is Good News! And yet, it gets better…

Finally, as we wrap up today’s reading, let’s close with – Rewards - “…whoever, because he is a disciple of Mine, gives even a cup of cold water to one of the least of these brothers of Mine, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.” - Matthew 10:40 – 42, paraphrased

And that, that right there ^ ^ ^ that, my friends, is pretty cool and yes… GOOD NEWS!

We’ll leave reading the rest of the text for you individually.

I’ve taken the liberty of assembling a weekly chart of daily readings to cover the chronology

“No Jesus, NO peace” and yet, “Know Jesus, KNOW peace”

How does one get to “know” Jesus?  Simple, invite Him into your heart, as Jesus says: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” [Revelation 3:20 NIV]  How can be assured that this Jesus stuff means anything?  Well because the Bible tells us so, as the Apostle Paul wrote:

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” [Romans 10:9-10 NIV]

And for those of you who say to me, I can’t be bothered reading the Bible, “it’s confusing” or “it’s a waste of my time”, may I draw your attention to what the Bible says about wisdom: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” [Proverbs 9:10 NIV]

If nothing else, PLEASE read two chapters from the Bible – (don’t own one, sorry NO excuse, if you’re reading this, you can access this: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%203:16&version=NIV) John 3 and John 14!

John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

And John 14:6 says: “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
