Incarnation to Resurrection
Incarnation to Resurrection roughly three and one-half
years, in 12 weeks, Sunday through Friday (six days) per week
Day Thirty-one of Eighty-four:
Today we’ll review the account of Jesus “Calming the Storm”, wherein we’ll see the relative calm that Jesus had
even as ‘all hell was breaking loose’ amidst Him and His followers on a small
fishing boat. “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” cried His
followers. And Jesus, and man I really
like this next bit of text. After being
awakened by His Disciples, who were in panic, Jesus just very simply rebuked
the wind and the raging waves, and of course they ceased. A then Jesus said to them, “Where is your faith?”
Today we get an intro into Jesus Sending Out the Twelve Apostles where we read Jesus’ very clear instructions to “Go to the lost, the confused the hurting people right here in your own neighborhoods. And tell them the kingdom is here. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers and cast out demons! When you enter a town or village, learn who is worthy and stay there until you leave. As you enter a house be courteous in your greeting. If they welcome you, be gentle in your conversation. If they don’t welcome you, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town.” paraphrasing Matthew 10:5 – 15

Today we read an
intriguing warning, intriguing in the sense that it comes from a Man whom many
call an emaciated, milquetoast pacifist… Jesus warned His Disciples that He is
sending them out to be “… like sheep running
through a wolf pack…”. Jesus also warned His followers, us, to “…be wise as serpents
and innocent as doves.” These warnings become especially poignant,
and really help drive home the point that Jesus knew, and knew very well, the
wickedness of man saying to His Disciples – “Don’t be naive. Some
people will impugn your motives, others will smear your reputation—just because
you believe in me.” Wow, did you read that? Some people will impugn (question, doubt, challenge)
your motives, others will smear your reputation. And they will do this because… because you
believe in Jesus. Better still, Jesus
said – “they’ve
done you—and me—a favor, given you a platform for preaching the kingdom news!” And the best
part of all, Jesus also said – “Don’t worry about how, or what words to say, you’ll be
given the words you should say when you need the words.” - Matthew 10:19
And that, that right
there ^ ^ ^ that, my friends, is
GOOD NEWS!
We’ll leave reading the rest of the text for you individually.

“No Jesus, NO peace” and yet, “Know Jesus, KNOW peace”
How does one get to “know” Jesus? Simple, invite Him into your heart, as Jesus
says: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and
opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” [Revelation 3:20 NIV]
How can be assured that this Jesus stuff means anything? Well because the Bible tells us so, as the
Apostle Paul wrote:
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is
Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it
is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” [Romans 10:9-10 NIV]
And for those of you who say to me, I
can’t be bothered reading the Bible, “it’s confusing” or “it’s a waste of my
time”, may I draw your attention to what the Bible says about wisdom: “The fear
of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is
understanding.” [Proverbs 9:10 NIV]
If nothing else, PLEASE read two chapters
from the Bible – (don’t own one, sorry NO excuse, if you’re reading this, you
can access this: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%203:16&version=NIV) John 3 and John
14!
John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the
world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.”
And John 14:6 says: “Jesus answered, “I am
the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
me.”
