Today we’ll continue to discover more
about Peter’s Confession of Jesus as The Christ, Matthew
16:13 – 20 & Mark 8:27 - 30. The
Contaminating Leaven (yeast) of the Pharisees, Pharisaical Mindset, Sadducees
and Herod (Herodians), Matthew 16:5-12; Mark 8:14-21. Although not written for roughly another 20
to 25 years, after this teaching by Jesus, Paul also talks about this subject,
the poignancy, danger and foolishness of the Pharisaical Mindset vs Hellenistic
mindsets vs “Christ-crucified” mindset, in I Corinthians
1:22 – 24. Jesus very plainly suggested that ‘a little
yeast, affects the entire batch’ (paraphrasing, Matthew
13:33), from our reading back on Friday, February
9th, 2018 “Day Thirty-four”,
although not expressly talked about in that Blog. This is also to be covered on Day Two of Week
Nine, in a future Blog.
Today we also read
of Jesus’ teaching about how important, not just important, or vital even, but
an absolute necessity, for us to place Jesus in both the navigator’s and
ultimately even in the driver’s seat of our lives, Luke 9:23 - 27. We
also read more about Jesus healing the sight of a once blind man, and Jesus’ exhortation
of the now sighted man to “not enter the village”, Mark 8:22 - 26. And what ever Jesus’ specific motivation for
frequently telling folk, “shh, tell no one” (paraphrasing), apart from the
obvious answer that – “That’s the Father’s will”, we may never know. What ever the rationale was, we know it was
part of G-d’s Master Plan to bring reconciliation to His fallen degenerate
creation, and Himself.
And though the world
does not understand that, that too right there ^ ^ ^ that, my friends, is… GOOD NEWS!

“No Jesus, NO peace” and yet, “Know Jesus, KNOW peace”
How does one get to “know” Jesus? Simple, invite Him into your heart, as Jesus
says: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and
opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” [Revelation 3:20 NIV]
How can be assured that this Jesus stuff means anything? Well because the Bible tells us so, as the
Apostle Paul wrote:
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is
Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it
is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” [Romans 10:9-10 NIV]
And for those of you who say to me, I
can’t be bothered reading the Bible, “it’s confusing” or “it’s a waste of my time”,
may I draw your attention to what the Bible says about wisdom: “The fear of the
LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is
understanding.” [Proverbs 9:10 NIV]

John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the
world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.”
And John 14:6 says: “Jesus answered, “I am
the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
me.”
