Incarnation to Resurrection
Incarnation to Resurrection roughly three and one-half
years, in 12 weeks, Sunday through Friday (six days) per week
Day Twenty of Eighty-four:
Today as we read, we’ll wrap up the Third
Week of our Twelve Week journey through THE Christmas story to THE Resurrection
story, we’ll find we are about one quarter of the way through the four
Gospels. First, we will explore - “A Tree and Judging
the Fruit”. And here, once again, I’ll shamelessly plug
my Blog from May of 2012, “KNOW THEM BY...”. Then next
we’ll reflect on false prophets and the eight (8) words no one should ever want
to hear - “Depart from me, for… I never knew you” from here we’ll read about the “Firm Foundation” that life in Christ is, and then finally, we’ll L@@K
closely at the “The Authority of Jesus”.
As Matthew 7 closes, Matthew’s final words - “…the crowd burst
into applause. They had never heard teaching like this. It was apparent that he
was living everything he was saying—quite a contrast to their religion
teachers!” - Matthew 7:29 –
29, MSG, give us reason to reflect very fondly on who, and what, Jesus is… G-d!
Next, we’ll take a quick review of the substance of this past week’s texts, beginning with the Beatitudes found in Matthew 5:1 - 12, from the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus taught us to ‘hunger and thirst for G-d’s righteousness’, and of Jesus’ teaching about “salt & light”. Imagine that, we (followers of Christ) are G-d’s LIGHT on Earth! From here we’ll review again what it means that Christ came to Fulfill the Law, and what He had to say about anger; lust; murder; adultery; divorce and empty promises (“oaths”). How by His actions (His obedience) we may know today (I John 5:13 / John 20:31) that we are set free. Not might be, hopefully one day, ‘set free’, IF we be ‘good enough’, but how we are, today, present tense, set free… IF only we’d place our faith in Christ.

Jesus’ early
teaching on murder, anger, lust, adultery and divorce, as well as making oaths
or empty promises. Did you know that
Jesus taught that a man was ‘guilty’, even if all he has done is think evil
thoughts – Matthew 5:22. And that “But I tell you that
everyone who looks upon a woman to lust after her has already committed
adultery with her in his heart.”
– Matthew 5:28 And we saw “The Lord’s
Prayer”: (see also Luke 11:2- 4,
for a condensed version of The Lord’s Prayer)
for ever. Amen.” – Matthew 6:9 –
13, KJV
The over-arching
theme of this whole week's reading might best be summarized as Do Not Be Anxious and
Overcoming Worry with Trust, literally Do
Not Worry For Anything! Also this week we
looked at one of the more commonly twisted passages in all of Scripture – “Judge not, that ye be
not judged.” – Matthew 7:1,
KJV How does one ascertain whether one
should stop, while driving, when one sees a stop sign… without any judgement at
all? In addition to Jesus teachings on
what we commonly refer to as The Beatitudes we also explored that Jesus the Christ / Yeshua ha
Mashiach (Rabbi Yeshua bar Yosef) Himself Used Name Calling.
Then as we wrapped
up Day Five we covered Jesus’ promises that “if we Ask, it Will Be Given” Matthew - 7:7 – 14 and also another one of the more
profound passages in Scripture.
Something commonly dubbed the “The Golden Rule” Matthew - 7:12 – 14.
And that, right there
^ ^ ^ that, my friends, is GOOD
NEWS!
We’ll leave reading the rest of the text for you individually.

“No Jesus, NO peace” and yet, “Know Jesus, KNOW peace”
How does one get to “know” Jesus? Simple, invite Him into your heart, as Jesus
says: “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and
opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” [Revelation 3:20 NIV]
How can be assured that this Jesus stuff means anything? Well because the Bible tells us so, as the
Apostle Paul wrote:
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is
Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it
is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” [Romans 10:9-10 NIV]
And for those of you who say to me, I
can’t be bothered reading the Bible, “it’s confusing” or “it’s a waste of my
time”, may I draw your attention to what the Bible says about wisdom: “The fear
of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is
understanding.” [Proverbs 9:10 NIV]
If nothing else, PLEASE read two chapters
from the Bible – (don’t own one, sorry NO excuse, if you’re reading this, you
can access this: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%203:16&version=NIV) John 3 and John
14!
John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the
world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life.”
And John 14:6 says: “Jesus answered, “I am
the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
me.”
